A new year usually means a new you, but in your circumstance it may also mean a new treadmill that is of course one of the best value treadmills in 2022.
Having been a trainer in the health and fitness space since my late teens, I have seen my fair share of resolutions. Of those resolutions, I would be willing to bet that only 10% of them were achieved.
A large majority of the time, people simply don’t follow through with their new year resolutions. Why is that? Simply put, it’s because of the all-or-nothing mindset.
The all-or-nothing mindset puts us in this false dichotomy that tells us there are only two ways to approach a fitter and healthier lifestyle: all-in, or all-out. If you haven’t realized it yet, we are im-perfect beings. Hate to break it to you, but yes, you are not perfect. You are flawed, just like me. This means that we are not able to do all things at all times. Though we try to do it all with our health and fitness, we are quickly humbled by the realization that it is impossible. And for those of you with the all-or-nothing mindset, there’s only one thing that happens when you realize you can’t do it all.
Nothing. You choose to do nothing.
That’s the only other option with this mindset. When you can’t do everything perfectly 100% off the time, you say “screw it” and do nothing instead. And as you probably know, doing nothing at all gets you absolutely nowhere.
What if, instead of doing nothing as a result of realizing we can’t do everything, we chose to do something instead? Something, no matter how small, compounds over time and turns into unbelievable results.
This couldn’t be more true with exercise. So many people out there set out to go to the gym five days per week for 90 minutes at a time in order to get the body they desire, even though their exercise for the past 3 years has been nothing more than 5,000 steps per day. What do you think happens in this situation? You guessed it, they realize they can’t keep that up, and choose to do nothing instead.
Don’t let that be you this year!
So, instead of nothing, let’s choose something. A great place to start is with your daily steps. This is something that I have nearly every client paying attention to, and I recommend this as a good place to start for you as well. There’s nothing wrong with trying to get more gym days in. Nothing wrong with that at all. But, we need to make sure that we are setting out to make changes that are realistic and sustainable. Steps is a great place to start.
But no matter how you choose to implement those steps, nothing is quite as easy as getting on a treadmill in your house or going outside.
Now I’ll be honest, if your primary use for a treadmill is simply to increase your daily steps, there’s no sense in getting the top-of-the-line treadmill, and that’s why we’ll be looking at the best value treadmill for 2022.
The Spirit XT285 treadmill is a great addition to your home gym, especially if you want to use it to create an active lifestyle by first increasing your step count. With capabilities such as adjustable speeds and inclines, as well as winning the FitProf Best Buy Treadmill Award, this could be a great addition for you.
But no matter what treadmill you choose, remember that the treadmill isn’t going to be the solution or magic pill for your health. It ultimately depends on you and your mindset. Will you choose to be all-or-nothing, living in the false dichotomy that tells you it’s either perfection or nothing, or will you choose to focus on something, and letting that “something” compound over time?
I hope you choose the latter. If you do, and increasing your daily steps is the place you’d like to start, getting outside regularly, and using one of the best value treadmills in 2022 can help you make it happen.
