"I thought I didn't need to lose weight because I'm healthy."
This week, CNN told us the story of Tim McCarty, who lost 125 pounds in 10 months. For McCarty, his “ah-ha” moment came when he was denied a ride on a rollercoaster because of his size. Even though he was told at the doctor’s that he had healthy vitals, he realized his size was restricting his life and could lead to problems in the future.
Motivated, he joined a gym targeted towards heavier-set people and began his transformation. Now, McCarty works out five times a week, jogs four times a week for a total of at least 20 miles, and completes weight training

“I left the corporate world behind […] to help other women find peace of body and mind.”
This week on Huffington Post Fitness, Robyn Spurr shared her inspirational story of change. A self-described emotional eater, Spurr had always been a snacker, especially when she experienced anxiety. In her post, she shared how she even turned to food to help her navigate the stresses of kindergarten.
For Spurr, her lowest point came at the early age of 21. She was her heaviest and began to binge and purge as a desperate attempt to reverse her weight gain. This began a 10 year battle with bulimia.
Spurr says that she realized that “fat didn't have to be my fate.” She took a holistic approach to wellness and started working with a therapist, a personal trainer and became good friends with a woman who was a life coach. Through hard work, she became fit and healthy and lost nearly 60 pounds.
Spurr became an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Health Coach, Certified Weight Loss Coach and owner of Chickadee Weight Loss.
