Each year millions of Americans sit down and make a list of New Year’s resolutions. Some of the most common resolutions involve getting in shape in one way, shape, or form. Many people commit to going to the gym more (or starting to go), eating better, and doing various other things to improve their physical wellbeing.
But why should you wait until the new year to start getting fit? With all the celebrations during the holiday season comes lots of food and sitting around. What better time to get in shape or continue staying fit than during the holidays themselves?
There is more than a month in between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. That’s valuable time you could be committing to staying fit. Many Americans have at least some time off over the holiday season. While rest and relaxation are important, so is staying active. You could use that time to participate in fun and fit recreational activities such as hiking or snowboarding.
When you get together with family and friends for the holidays, cozying up to the fire or watching football on TV are nice activities to participate it. However, you should also try to get outside and play a game of some sort such as touch football.
Don’t feel guilty about allowing yourself to sleep in a bit during the holidays, but balance that out by using some of that free time for fitness. If you aren’t a member of a gym, many of them offer specials for the holidays so take advantage of that. Put a gym membership on your holiday wish list or give yourself the gift that can change your life for the better.
